BlogEngine.NET Project

Official launch of BlogEngine.NET 1.0

clock May 22, 2007 00:00 by author Team

Today we are proud to present the first official release of BlogEngine.NET – a full featured blog engine built with simplicity as the primary goal. You can see a list of the most important features right here. BlogEngine.NET is open source and completely free to use. Download BlogEngine.NET here.

Going from beta to release

A lot of alpha and beta testers have provided valuable feedback during the last couple of months – most of which ended up in this release. Some of the testers, as well as the development team have been running BlogEngine.NET as their primary blog for more than two months now, so we are very confident in the stability and quality of this first release.

Getting help

If you have any questions regarding BlogEngine.NET, please visit the FAQ or the wiki which likely will provide you with the answers you need. If you are a developer and want to extend BlogEngine.NET, you might want to look at the code documentation.  After checking these resources, if you still find you need help, please ask our the forums.

Eating our own dog food

We wouldn’t be serious about BlogEngine.NET if we didn’t use it to build this website, so of course we did. This website runs on the exact same release as you can now download.

Thank you

Last but certainly not least, we want to thank all beta testers who provided feedback that made BlogEngine.NET 1.0 a reality. Without the feedback, we wouldn't have been able to release as soon as we have. Thanks.

Hi. I'm a dasBlog users and when I heard about this it peaked my interest. However, the I saw that it "runs entirely on XML."  If there were on thing that I dislike most about dasBlog it is that it too runs entirely on XML.

Do you have an option to run in on SQL?  One option would be Sqlite and another SQL Compact Edition. But if it is only XML, well that's just a non-starter for so many reasons.

Ali, you cannot have multiple blogs on one installation. You can only have multiple users writing on the same blog. If you want to have multiple blogs, you should upload BlogEngine.NET to different folders on you web server and make each folder an application in the IIS.
